Sampling of biological material for forensic examinations

This bachelor's thesis discusses the basic methods and procedures for securing biological material, subsequent analysis of which is an essential component in the process of investigating crime offences, but also mass fatality inccidents. Due to the risk of contamination and degradation of biological material, it is necessary to follow certain rules and procedures for secure sampling suitable for subsequent forensic examination. The main goal of securing a trace of biological material is to enable its DNA analysis, for which it is necessary to ensure a certain degree of integrity of the material itself as well as the nucleic acid. Stability can be achieved by using stabilizing agents that slow DNA degradation, allowing it to be analyzed immediately but also reexamined over time. Rapidly mutating Y-STRs analysis as a tool for forensic investigations, genetic genealogical applications and molecular anthropology

Compared to standard Y-STR markers commonly used in forensics and bioarchaeology, rapidly mutating Y-STR markers (RM Y-STR) have a significantly higher haplotype diversity and lineage resolution abilities in world populations. They form a novelty in these fields. This paper will attempt to clarify their origin, function, and efficacy in forensic genetics, genealogy, and molecular anthropology by looking at the Y chromosome and its characteristics that allow its use in the mapping of populations, individual male lineages, and identifying male perpetrators of sexual violence. By looking at other polymorphisms of the Y chromosome, especially Y-SNP markers, we can see in which studies each type is used most effectively. In the end, it will be clarified whether the use of RM Y-STR markers is beneficial to each field, whether they make standard Y-STR markers redundant, or whether they are themselves of no substantial use in comparison.

The bachelor's thesis "Analysis and forensic investigation of Bitcoin cryptocurrency" deals with creation of methodology for searching for Bitcoin on computer device, practical application of the methodology and comparison of obtained results with proffesional forensic tools. Theoretical part contains detailed description of how Bitcoin cryptocurrency works, it's storage ways and comparison with alternative cryptocurriencies which would be, from technological aspect, more appropriate to use for non-tracable transactions.

1 THE CRIME OF MURDER - JURISTIC, CRIMINOLOGICAL AND FORENSIC ASPECTS ABSTRACT The objective of this diploma thesis is to formulate complex view on the crime of murder from the perspective of three scientific field - juristic, criminological and forensic - and in three parts to create comprehensive set of information about the most serious crime against human life. First part is dedicated to juristic aspects and it contains development of legislation in time, which by its gradual adjustements led to current legislation. Then the current legislation of the crime of murder is described in details and it is also compared with other crimes against human life and with legislation of selected states. In one of the chapters there is definiton of euthanasia, which is illegal in Czech republic, but this thesis offers comparation with legislation in other states, where euthanasia is legal. In the second part the crime of murder is described with criminological aspects. There are many statistics and graphs showing state, structure and dynamics of this crime in the Czech republic in past few years. One chapter is dedicated to a offender, including psychological treatise, statistics based on gender or relaps, and information about motives for committing. The thesis "Analysis of current cryptocurrency with focus on Bitcoin, securing the proceeds of crime." deals with the securing of cryptocurrency Bitcoin. The thesis describes selected current cryptocurrencies and their differences from Bitcoin. The thesis is focused on the issue of finding and securing cryptocurrencies in investigated devices detained in criminal activity. Based on the results of the research, optimal procedures for the provision and forensic analysis of cryptocurrencies are suggested.
